Union Pacific’s 4014 Big Boy to travel through Nebraska on Heartland of America tour


NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – Union Pacific’s Big Boy 4014 is set to hit the rails again at the end of the month for its Heartland of America tour, which includes eight stops in Nebraska. The historic steam locomotive will travel from Cheyenne, with scheduled stops in Kimball, Sidney, Ogallala, North Platte, Grand Island, Overton, Columbus, and Omaha.

Public access to Big Boy 4014 will be restricted during its stop in North Platte from Aug. 29 through Sept. 1.

Union Pacific is auctioning off a chance for four people to ride in the cab of Big Boy 4014, with details available online.

Following its journey through Nebraska, Big Boy 4014 will continue its tour with stops in Council Bluffs, St. Louis, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, and Denver.

The Heartland of America tour is scheduled to begin on Aug. 28 in Kimball and conclude on Oct. 23 in Greeley, Colorado.
